Aspens are one of the most cherished trees in South Park, especially during the fall when their bright colors attract visitors from throughout the state. These trees are Populus tremuloides or “quaking aspens,” so named for their broad, flat leaves that tremble in the ever-present winds of South Park. Quaking aspens are the most widely distributed tree in North America. 

Take County Road 56 (Lost Park Road) from highway 285. Turn right on Forest Service Road 130 if you have a high clearance vehicle and find a good parking spot. Be mindful of others camping or recreating nearby.

Caching with Oilbear125, Ghostiegal, and Ksgator72. We came to Colorado for Pikes Peak and the geotours. We are working on the Southpark tour. Love the scenery and having fun with the caches.
