It's a little-known secret that the three wise men of yore were also geocachers. Their profound wisdom allowed them to solve many a difficult puzzle cache. Eventually they decided to hide one of their own, each adding their own twist to create a truly challenging enigma for their fellow cachers. Be warned: their creation is not for the faint of heart, and not one that will be found without considerable devotion of time and energy.

Times had changed for the three wise men. Their days of riding camels through the desert were over, and they'd moved on to driving 4x4s through the mountains and plains of Colorado in their search for geocaches. They'd traded in their frankincense for bear spray, sold their myrrh to buy new GPS's, and had long ago sacrificed their gold to the rising cost of gasoline.

The three met one day to chat over a pint. There they hatched their plan for a fiendish puzzle cache. Their discussion carried on long into the night, and when they staggered away their plan was firmly in place. In the days that followed they crafted their mystery, leaving only the following behind to those who might solve it:

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates.

As you progress through the puzzle you will find the next stages are listed on various trackable pages. Please go ahead and discover these!

The final is an ammo can with an unactivated TB as FTF prize.

Congrats to ernie66 for being the first to out-think the three wise men!

I remember when THeSKuLL first started working on this one. By the time RPieperco wanted to go for it we were gone for the summer. Took me 2 years to finally finish the puzzles on my own and get back up here. Great adventure. Very well done on the puzzles and hide! Thanks!

Great puzzle. It took quite a while to work through the stages. Then almost 3 years later I get to look for it with animjason. I must make it down here more often. There are some great puzzles and hides here. I loved the cache location - well done. It was fun to hunt around. Luckily it didn't take to long to spot. More please! Cheers.

This was the last cache of the day for me, and second to last for sleuthers. We had been hiking all day, and there was one left he needed that I already had, so I hung around this cache, and played with the unbroken clay pigeons nearby.

This was a really fun cache to find and the great find/fave ratio reflects that, and earns a fave from me. So many options, and lots of fun to narrow it down. Great coords helped with that. It had been raining so the slickness was an added, but fun challenge. I was happy when I heard Sleuthers say, "Got it!"

Thanks for adding fun to this game/hobby/sport/addiction!

Woo hoo!!! 1,000 caches!

I'm not even sure where to go begin with this one! I'll start with the puzzle. This is an amazing puzzle! The CO's crowning achievement! It took me several hours over about a week and a few little nudges. Nothing revealing just things to consider. I'd love to go into detail on each one but I don't want to ruin it for future solvers. Let me thank THeSKuLL for a nudge here and there and Zulu113 for a few small things to consider too. While I can't claim 100% solved on my own, I feel I did all the required research and put together all the components to get the final solution. Each stage presented me with new information to consider and new techniques! The final puzzle was simply genius! Well done, I can't say enough. I enjoyed it immensely!

The cache...

I've had the solution to this for several weeks, but I wanted it to be something special. When THeSKuLL said he was going for his 3000th cache I was very eager to go with him, but I would have the kiddos with me that day. In the end we didn't go together, safety and other considerations. Having found it now, we made the right decision.

So missing the first opportunity I decided I would hold off for a memorable experience to be able to enjoy this one too. Well as I approached my 1000 mile stone I had to pick a special cache to make the day extra fun. This was the first and only choice to go after!

I have this phobia of becoming some critter's lunch so I solicited some friends who might like to join me. THeSKuLL happily stepped up and said he would be happy to join me and hike around the Mt. Herman area for some other solved puzzles and caches. Woo Hoo! With the date set I worked to get to 999 caches.

THeSKuLL came up to Monument and met me at work and we piled into the car for what would become an epic, no legend... wait for it... dary hike! Shortly after we made our way to the cache GZ where I beheld the awesomeness of the hiding spot! To which I exclaimed it's where!? After squeezing, crawling, jumping, and freaking out over being covered in spider webs I made the discovery! Wow! Lots of pictures, happy dance, and laughing I opened the cache. Being only the 8th person to sign, the log was mostly empty. Grabbed a TB and replaced the cache as found. Now... How do I get out of here!?

I managed! Wink We climbed back up to the car and proceeded on our epic adventure that ended with a torrential down pour and lightning bolts all around. I'm logging this nearly 6 hours later and am still freezing!

Thanks so much for this absolutely fantastic puzzle, epic hide, and adventure that we had today! I loved every minute! A favorite is pretty much obvious here!

YES!!! Cache #3000!

This was a very fun puzzle to accomplish on my own. I solved it last July in hopes of finding it on a hike last August, after it was left alone for a year. That hike never happened and it went nearly another year without being found. In fact, I nearly forgot about it until a few days ago when RPieperCO asked for a nudge.

I was going to grab it for my 2999, since I wanted to beat him to it BigSmileClownBigSmile and then go for Tarryall for #3000. Unfortunately, the weather didn't look good yesterday and I had time constraints today with having to pick up the boys from Scouts. So, I decided this was a good one to take the place of Tarryall. Plus, the 3 in each, 3000 & Three Wise Men went well together.

RPieperCO expressed that he didn't want to do it alone, and I told him he was welcome to join me, but only on the condition that he couldn't log it until he solved it. ClownEvilClown ... Truth be told, I'm probably the most anti-social celebratory person. BigSmileClownBigSmile I was reluctant to have anyone with me. Even more so when he noted that the kiddo cachers would be with us. Shock Whoa! I'm not good with young folk toddling around where I'm not all that comfortable scrambling about. (OK! I'll go into detail in a bit, but the scrambling wasn't even all that tough for even my broke tuccus. Clown ) Well, it worked out that I needed to be back home when he was able to get out without the kids. So I was back to being solo.

Now, I knew I should have kept my fingers off the keyboard. BigSmileClownBigSmile With some more elbow pokes, he had it solved. Strangely enough, crumbcruncher's plans got cancelled and she asked RPieperCO if he wanted to head up near this one. "Well," I thought, "at least someone would be along to find my corpse if I lost it out there." BigSmileClownBigSmile

I was going to park just up and around the bend, but that was washed out, so I had to go much farther up. I felt I didn't want to have to walk that far on the way back and turned around. I ended up parking only 250ft away and headed towards GZ. Once there, my GPSr (yes, I even used the Garmin today) said 13ft East. Not a hard decision of where I need to go, except that I've got some chunk on me and I'm afraid of heights. So entering that way was my second choice. I went around to the South and decided that, although it looked like more room, the drop, if I didn't make it up and in, was definitely not going to feel good. I went back up, around and down into the belly. With my orangutan arms, I was able to handle the descent without damage to my hands. Just a few very minor nicks in the epidermis. I got down a couple levels and could see my goal. That last drop was the most worrisome. But, it turned out to be falsely accused when I got down. It looks much farther than it is. As noted by the attached pic, I got there. This log, from home, notes that I made it out. ToungeOut

Thanks for the awesome puzzle and the cool milestone cache! Favorite on all aspects.

I'm sure crumcrunchers and RPieperCO will be along any minute. Smile
