Located in a dry wash at just above 10,000ft elevation in Buffalo Peaks Wilderness. Watch for bears & other wildlife.
Buffalo Peaks is one of our favorite places to hike and explore. This cache is hidden in a dry wash well off of a forest road marked "Trout Creek". We found several old animal skeletons near the hide, one was a carnivore and the other a large grass eater (cow, elk or deer). Beautiful area in all seasons. This cache will be difficult if not impossible to find in the winter but will be great all other times of the year. Beautiful moss and lichens covered rocks and vistas of nearby 13k and 14k peaks. Cache has a log and several treasures appropriate for kids. Our boys, ages 5 & 8 loved the hike\adventure. Evidence of bears activity on nearby aspen trees.

Nice cache, I'm surprised it doesn't get more visitors. Cache is in good shape - thanks for the hide.

A fun drive up to this area, went on up to the higher cache and stopped on my way down for this one. I seemed to find a trail down to this one and made a quick find. Cache is in good shape. Cheers!

Wingsandtales and I had set goal of getting the two caches up this way. Our best laid plans were foiled by a couple of gates across the access roads. Motorized travel is not permitted due to elk calving! Once the gates reopen we'll be back later this summer to accomplish our goal.
