250m from my parking, but damn near 300m UP! Hiked up the steep grade in the snow and made the find. Redemption from last year when I drove past. The weather moved in and chased me off the hill all the way back home. Next person should bring a new container this one is broken

Rode past the one on the way up thinking I'll get it in the way down.... Well I dumped my bike A few times and was exhausted from picking it back up so I'll pass for not.

Five years (!) is long enough !! I grabbed Ernie & Estes' coin from 2013 & then tried to cross- topograph back to the parking coord's. Well that really didn't work & when I'd only gone .2 mile in a half hour or so, I just took all the thinner breaks in the dense brush to go straight down** until I hit the road.
nearly exactly, as it turned out: I came out of the bushwhack at a vertical piece of road cut and had to scramble down 15 feet using exposed tree roots !!!

Found this one with Java Chip while avoiding a thunderstorm that popped up over Pikes Peak. TFTC!

Well ernie66's log tells it all. This one has been on our list for a long time, so it was good to finally be able to get it. Fortunately we were able to leave all the traffic far behind on Gold Camp and FS 379. 379A has never been one of my favorites because of the extreme exposure in spots, but this cache and Croquembouche made it all worthwhile. Thanks for bringing us up there.

Estes01 and I have been talking about this cache for several years. The trip up here was an experience, as was the hike. It's been close to 5 years since I was last on Almagre.
We had just passed a cleanup event in Frostys Park and then encountered our first obstacle, a large - very large - group of bicycles at the top of trail 668. We had passed a few stragglers on the road but were surprised at the size of the crowd gathered there. We got past that only to find another obstacle - a pickup truck on its top blocking the road! From the dampness of the mud caked on the truck, it looked like it had happened fairly recently, but there was nobody around. With some digging and trail making (estes01's Jeep always seems to have the right tools aboard), we managed to squeeze around that and continue on our way.
We parked outside the gate at Baldy's Base and hiked first to Croquembouche then down to c86. We were surprised at the battered condition of the antennas and just as surprised to see a maintenance guy inside the fence climbing around on the antenna structure.
A spot like this deserves an ammo can, not a pill bottle. Other than that, I would have to say this is a spectacular cache. Swapped TB's, Thank you!
