CONGRATULATIONS TO A & J - Adrift FOR THE FTF!!

This cache is placed near the summit of Point 13,811, one of Colorado’s Centennial Peaks.  Centennials are mountains that are amongst the highest 100 peaks in our state.  As more hikers and climbers complete the 54 14ers, some of them redirect their focus to the 46 Centennial 13ers, such as this one. Point 13,811 has been given no official name by the USGS and is identified by its elevation, 13,811 feet above MSL. It is the 99th highest peak in Colorado. The easiest approach is via the Williams Creek Trail but the most commonly used approach is via Silver Creek Trail, climbing over Point 13,832 en route to this peak and on the return.

The cache is a heavy-duty plastic container wrapped in tape.  A pill vial containing the cache log is inside the larger jar.  It's hidden in a cavity between two slabby upright rocks, covered by a moderately long rectangular rock for concealment.  Have fun on your hike. Several hours are necessary to reach Point 13,811 by either of the routes.  Both require cumulative elevation gains of approximately 5,000 feet and distances in excess of 12 or 13 miles round trip, much in alpine terrain above tree-line. Go prepared, and don't hesitate to turn back if weather shows signs of deterioration..

Hiking with WingsAndTales - we had good weather and did a little through hike along the ridge. Quite the beat down trail here now, compared to thirty years ago... Picked up the red jeep to move it along.

See my log for Point 13,832 for the details on how we got here. This one was a much quicker find than the last which was good since there is a long way to go to get back to a trailhead from here. Fortunately we had good weather all day for this hike. COpackrat picked up the Jeep TB to get it moving again. TFTC

The only thing I can add to the log for this cache is that I did not want to do it. A & J Adrift referred to it as their final push and I kept that thought in the back of my head from the start. There were several “pushes” on this hike as far as I was concerned. After summiting these two Centennials, I was ready for whatever Denali41 had in store. Well, at least that’s what I thought…

Estes01 and I continued on from Point 13,832 heading for Point 13,811. We saw the elk herd in the valley just before starting the final ascent to 13,811. If only our legs felt as fresh as theirs seemed to, we would be up there in no time! We were worried about the gathering clouds, but made it back to the trailhead before the rains began. The last mile always seems to be the longest.
