The cache is a 35mm container. It is not winter friendly.
While the Hilltop Mine seems to have been the richest mine in the area, the Dauntless Mine is an example of one of the prime producers of ore in the area and much more assessable to the casual hiker. With that said, the cache has been placed some distance from the mine because of public/private property issues. Permission to wander around does exist.

Think about what life would have been like here in winter. Hard work and very minimal creature comforts. Death came easily. I wonder how many of the miners simply took the next train out of town when they could.

The location of the cache does provide a view of the mine.

Please take extra care to replace the cache so that it is not visible to muggles.

Found this near the parking area after chickening out and not trying to hike up Mount Sherman maybe some other day I'll get the rest on the way up

Hiked up Mt Sherman with PayMeCache. Arrive at the peak just in time for the sunrise. The view was amazing. Grabbed this cache on our way back to town. TFTC

Last cache of the day with J from KJKlock. We drove up here late last night to get a jump start on climbing Mount Sherman before sunrise. We were the first ones at the top and enjoyed the sunrise, took photos and enjoyed a breakfast beer. On the way down we looked for all caches in route back to the car. All is well here with the log and cache.
