The cache is a decon container. It is not winter friendly.
This is one of the caches in a series of caches dedicated to Fallen Flag railroads. Fallen Flags are those railroads that no longer exist either through abandonment or corporate takeover. With each cache will come a short history lesson explaining a little something about the railroad.

LSP&L are the initials of the London, South Park, and Leadville railroad. It was a narrow gauge line (3’ between the rails) that ran between London Junction (Alma Junction) and the North London Mill, a distance of about 7 miles.

One of the more interesting things to ponder about these railroads is what inspired their name. London was inspired by the name of the mountain where the mine was located. South Park probably was chosen to reflect that this railroad was tied to the South Park area and the Denver, South Park, and Pacific railroad. The Leadville part of the name comes from it's charter which would allow it to be built on to Leadville if they chose to do so. Obviously their eyes were bigger than their stomachs and no extention was ever built.

At this point the grade had steepened and the locaomotive would have had to work harder to get the empty cars back up to the mill. The characteristic chuff-chuff-chuff of the locomotive would have been throatier here than it was down in the flat.

the log is still soaking wet, but there was no new water inside of it. Fun cache, almost missed it, but as I turned to leave, I spotted it! and now I know what a deacon container looks like. Off to find out what it means. :)

Sorry for the late log.

We had a great geocaching summer. It was our first trip to Colorado JEEPing and geocaching and we had so much fun. We found this on our way up and over Mosquito Pass..well the snow stopped us , but we still had a blast.
