The cache is a 35mm container. While the cache is probably marginally winter friendly, the road to it is not.
NOTE WELL - It may appear that there is a turnoff at the cache location. DO NOT PARK THERE. Mother Nature is attempting to reclaim the area and driving on it will only put that effort back many years. PARK ON THE MOSQUITO PASS ROAD. Capiche!

This is one of the caches in a series of caches dedicated to Fallen Flag railroads. Fallen Flags are those railroads that no longer exist either through abandonment or corporate takeover. With each cache will come a short history lesson explaining a little something about the railroad.

LSP&L are the initials of the London, South Park, and Leadville railroad. It was a narrow gauge line (3’ between the rails) that ran between London Junction (Alma Junction) and the North London Mill, a distance of about 7 miles.

It is at approximately this location that the railroad placed a switchback for the purposes of gaining additional elevation. The climb to the mill was just too steep without the switchback. You can see the middle part of the switchback at the cache location. A little father up the road you can see the top leg on the side of the north hill.

I found the container, but the lid was missing and no log. I didn't have any logs small enough to replace it.

We were hoping to make it all the way to Mosquito Pass but had to turn around at a very steep rocky hill a few miles in. The Subaru Outback didn't have quite enough ground clearance to tackle the loose rocks. We looked for this one on our way back out. Fairly quick find, no top was on the container but the log & ziploc were fine. TFTC

We were out doing some Jeeping, caching, and sight seeing, from Twin Lakes to Fairplay and back. Thanks for the cache!

A quick find but the lid was gone. The log was dry. Stamped the log and put it in a new baggie to protect it. I didn't have a lid with me so the next finders need to replace the film can lid. [8d][8d] SL TFTC

Sorry for the late log.

We had a great geocaching summer. It was our first trip to Colorado JEEPing and geocaching and we had so much fun. We found this on our way up and over Mosquito Pass..well the snow stopped us , but we still had a blast.
