The road to this cache will lead you through Estabrook, the first historic district designated in Park County. In the early 1870s, Joseph A. Estabrook established a small ranch in this valley to raise horses, but the area didn’t gain notoriety until the Denver, South Park & Pacific Railroad arrived in 1878. A station was established at Estabrook and several prominent railroad officials began building rustic style summer homes along the river. The railroad transported tourists to this scenic valley to enjoy the fishing, increasing Estabrook’s popularity, but the resort community fell victim to economic hardship when the railroad tracks were removed in 1937. Today, the community remains in private ownership, but its rustic summer residences can still be viewed from the road.

Take Wellington Road east from Bailey through Estabrook until you reach Forest Service land. A roadside parking area is available a short distance from the cache.

The drive on this cache was horrible! Vibrating me and my car to pieces, though it fixed a bulb that went out on my dash. The cache was an easy find however TFTC!!

Working on some more of the CSP series with Wall77, Ghostiegal and KSgator. We started it Monday, but got run out of the area by the fires. Roads were closed so we could not get to the caches. Most of the roads were open today, but we still could not get to some of them. Signed log WOGG. TFTC
