Dogs  Recommended for kids  Takes less than an hour  Scenic view  Abandoned mines  Parking available  Bicycles  No Campfires

One of the things that I love about geocaching is that I get to explore places I would never know about otherwise.

This area is home to an on mining road, cabins, camp, and some rusted machinery and vehicles. When these places are abandoned, nature reclaims them, like the rock wall where this cache is hidden. If you like meandering hikes, or are a bit of a history buff, get out here. It's a wonderful trail for the entire family. You can find a few other caches on this trail, too.

Parking in the large turn-out on 103 recommended. The trail starts at N 39.40.399 W 105.26.662

Camoe'd spice container a few feet from the trail.

According to my maps, this cache is placed about 1/2 down the existing old mning road/ trail, which means that there is room for many others past this.

Strike two. On a snowy day, but I read previous log - "with an FC in likliest place" and thought it wouldn't be too hard to dig a little. I was wrong. Maybe I misinterpreted log (not really sure what an "FC" is).

I found this one with Nickgatt and my geohound, Cuervo. We headed up 103 and hiked up Mt. Hicks. TFTC SL.

@12:43:00 PM #21289 killian33, Cuervo, the wonder dog and I went caching along Hwy 103. Nice 5 mile hike to Hicks Mountain and a couple of shorter sprints for a few more caches! TFTC

We replaced the cache with a FC in the likliest spot. Since it hasn't been found in 28 months, we're pretty sure it's in a good place.

Poked and prodded the wall but to no avail.
