This mine located on Beaver Creek is one of hundreds of abandoned mines found in South Park. Very little is known about this particular mine, but its buildings suggest that it was most recently worked in the early to mid 20^th century. You can safely tour a variety of mines in Colorado by visiting the Division of Mining, Reclamation, and Safety’s website.

Follow Bogue Street in Fairplay to County Road 659 (Beaver Creek Road) then turn right at the Forest Service access sign. A short distance after turning there will be a parking area with a gate, which is usually closed from February to June. Most vehicles can continue up the road closer to the cache. 4WD vehicles may take the Forest Service Road through Beaver Creek directly to the cache while others can park on Beaver Creek Road and cross the creek on foot. Please respect all signage and use caution around mines and equipment.
