Let me tell you a story about a high mountain cache rescue that no one knew was needed, but happened to today. See, I was well on my way to the Lost Creek Peek cache in an effort to close out the double fizzy I was on the cusp of doing. Having intel that this was a good place to stop and gather my bearings before pressing on, I did so. However, it turned into more than just a rest stop, but a cache rescue. I really did not need this as I was racing time and weather out here for the cache above this point, but knew it would not take much time to perform the rescue. (Attached photos give the picture book version of this story)

When I found the cache, it was well down the chute below where it was probably initially hiding above. All I could do was shake my head and think about how I was going to go fishin' for this container. Pulling my best MacGyver move, I found a rod from the nearest fir tree and decided to use it. Making my way to the best angle I could use to retrieve the cache, I positioned myself where I could hook the container. After a couple of stabs and pulls, I was able to draw it closer before having to reposition the rod. The last cast of the rod was able to hook the container and pull it up to where I could handle it safely. After making sure the container was still usable, I signed the log and put it in a much safer and well protected hiding spot where it was probably meant for. From there, I gathered my gear and started up the mountain for the real goal of the day......the 2.5/5 above this point. However, a beer or two after the rescue would have tasted mighty refreshing....Wink

Wow, long time since anyone logged a find here. Loneranger made the trek up to find this little cache and definitely needed a rest. Cache in great shape, Thanks for the adventure!

Just had to laugh when we got to the cache site. Whose cache is this? What's the terrain rating? Oh, right, and WingsAndTales headed straight to the top. We miss you guys and your caches. Cache is still in excellent condition and we appreciated another stop along the way.

I have been pestering estes01 to do Lost Creek Peek with me for a while and she finally gave in today. This cache gave us a good spot to help work our way around the mountain. Having done a number of the CO's caches in the past gave us a pretty good idea where to look. The cache is in great shape even after 3 year since the last find. TFTC

Cool ! I see you probably made this a rest stop for my cache at the top. Like it! Good "hook" to reel em' in for the sumit cache. Thanks! I'll have to nab yours soon. Thanks for a good tacticle placement that will compliment mine. I'll be in the area today.....weather and time dependent if i go for it.
Peace~Out
