I love this area of the park. Something about it just feels right. It had rained recently, and all the moss just was vibrant and fuzzy. It made it hard to walk in places to avoid stepping on plants. Maybe that concentration is why I waltzed right past the cache without seeing it... or maybe I'm just oblivious. Turned around shortly and made the find!

It was a beautiful morning for a hike, so we decided to explore the scenic trails west of Palmer Lake. We hiked up from the lower reservoir to get the Sundance Mountain cache first, then continued west aong the "Backwoods Trail" until we got to the the Bearing Tree cache. We didn't go after the Backwoods #1 cache since it had a few recent DNFs by experienced cachers. The trails were snowpacked and icy so we were thankful that we had brought along our trekking poles. All containers and logs were in great shape. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches.

Last cache of the day... I hadn't intended to get all these caches back here when I started, but once I got on a roll, well... Scrambled further uphill and found a rock pile to have lunch on. Which helped me avoid the two doofuses illegally riding their dirt bikes down below...
Now, if we could just get Backwoods #1 replaced (or found??) I'd feel complete!
TFTC!
