The cache is located in the vicinity of the Trailhead where the Huerfano Trail and the Zapata Trail begin from the trail parking area along Forest Road 580.  The placement is in the San Isabel National Forest.  A short uphill walk over fallen tree trunks is necessary to reach the cache location, but this “approach” from parking to the cache is fairly easy.  Enjoy this marvelous area, and consider hiking up one of the surrounding mountains while you are in the area! They are spectacular, especially when they are viewed from  high elevations above tree line.

The Badd One, stranded in the Badd InFusion a mere 200 feet from the cache, had no choice but to look for it. While spending the night in the car, he had run the heater every so often to help dry his clothes from the storm on descent from California Peak. He might have avoided the storm if he had not spent half an hour looking for the Boundary with bad coord (transposed digit in bad light). Here, everything fell into place for him. The cache, while laying dormant for nearly two years was in good shape.

The only real drawback here is that a landslide on 580 forced the Badd One to spend the night at the cache. The good news is that he found it the next morning. Thanks for the cache #3681.

Since the weather cooperated more than expected we had time for this one on the way down the road from Lindsey. Nice and quick find. TFTC

A bonus cache after a challenging hiking day with WingsAndTales, ernie66 and kenyansherpa. Normally I wouldn't have the energy to do a Denali41 cache at the end of a tiring day, but he was kind this time…and who could pass up one of his caches when it was so close. The cache is in good condition. Thank you.

Estes01, WingsAndTales, Kenyansherpa, and I stopped to search for this cache on our way down from Mt. Lindsey. I didn't know if my knees would take another 20 feet of uphill, but it was mind over matter and once there, we quickly located the cache. Thanks for putting another along this spectacularly beautiful road!
