Scenic view  Medium hike (1km-10km)

This is a side trip on a ridge below the Section 16/Palmer Trail Loop.

The Section 16/Palmer Trail Loop is one of the most popular hikes in the area. There is an unmarked trail that splits the middle of the loop. You can access it from above or below but it will be easiest to find from below and the additional waypoints will help keep you on track. The cache is just down a ridge and a short way off this alternate trail with views of Sentinel Rock, Tenney Crags and Hunters Run.  The final approach to the cache is safest from the north.  South of the cache the ridge gets very steep and loose. At least one ER trip has resulted from continuing south of the cache. Go that direction only at your own risk.

Congratulations to ernie66 for the early morning FTF!

What an after work adventure. I made getting down much harder than it needed to be. Got a few scrapes to show for it. TFTC

Found this one on day 2,327 of my current geocaching streak. Since I came off the CDT last year, I really haven’t returned to the mountains. In that time both my fitness level, mind and log writing skills have turned to mush while I’ve digested all of the 1.5s/1.5s caches to keep my streak going. I’ve finally decided it is time to get back on the trail. I cleared this area of all of the caches I was interested in back in 2013, but like vegetation, new ones have grown back. I decided this “new” (to me) cluster (GC7025Y Amazing Grace, GC6ZBY4 Easter in January, GC6ZNHX Inside the Loop, GC6ZNHR High Above Hunters Run, GC1413R Bark, GC6ZD4R High Above High Drive) placed by the usual suspects seemed like a perfect warm up hike.

This one was third on my target list, coming straight over from GC6ZBY4 Easter in January. Since this was a warm up hike, I planned to stop near this cache and have a early lunch break. One of the advantages of all of my CDT planning is that I now have some pretty good kit; lightweight and durable. While some of this kit is what I consider “good kit” and some is “bad kit,” I was happy to get to use some of my “good kit.” I have to admit, having a nice break with a hot lunch is a definite quality of life improvement. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache for everyone to find, TFTC.

Catching up on some logs from latest visit, now that we’re home with more versatile internet.

Thanks for another cache & associated waypoints that showed me a hike I never would have found otherwise. I was lucky to be going at it from a cutoff at the top, and following downhill in reverse works perfectly too!

Made it up here where it's cooler from the sun. Cache looks good where it is. I need a beer. Tftc today!

We got this smiley on our second hike up this trail. Very beautiful and scenic. Also very quiet. Not many people know about this trail. The coords were right on for us. Thanks for the cache and for showing us the correct path with all the way points given!

I was fortunate enough to get invited for a hike with Ernie and Estes. Then they were gracious enough to allow me to pick up a few caches along this back door trail to the section 16 area and beyond. This was the first one along the way. IN - Sponsor pin from the Rio Olympics. OUT - nothing TFTH!!!
