Scenic view  Available during winter  Short hike (less than 1km)

This is a short side trip off an alternate trail in the Palmer Trail/Section 16 area.

Step down the ridge a little way and look west to see great views of Hunters Run which joins Bear Creek below the cache.

The Section 16/Palmer Trail Loop is one of the most popular hikes in the area. There is an unmarked trail that splits the middle of the loop. You can access it from above or below but it will be easiest to find from below and the additional waypoints will help keep you on track. The cache is a very short distance off this trail. Use the additional waypoints to keep you on track.

Congratulations to ernie66 for the early morning FTF!

Another great hiking cache on a beautiful evening. TFTC

I was skeptical about what kind of trail I might find. I was expecting a spotty trail with lots of bushwhacking, but that was not the case. We where able to follow the trail the entire way to the top. 3rd cache of the day as we headed up. TFTC.

Found this one on day 2,327 of my current geocaching streak. Since I came off the CDT last year, I really haven’t returned to the mountains. In that time both my fitness level, mind and log writing skills have turned to mush while I’ve digested all of the 1.5s/1.5s caches to keep my streak going. I’ve finally decided it is time to get back on the trail. I cleared this area of all of the caches I was interested in back in 2013, but like vegetation, new ones have grown back. I decided this “new” (to me) cluster (GC7025Y Amazing Grace, GC6ZBY4 Easter in January, GC6ZNHX Inside the Loop, GC6ZNHR High Above Hunters Run, GC1413R Bark, GC6ZD4R High Above High Drive) placed by the usual suspects seemed like a perfect warm up hike.

I was able to find this one pretty quickly and with no drama…I didn’t even have to take my pack off. I would have preferred to proceed to GC6ZD4R High Above High Drive, but I didn’t observe a trail in that direction. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache for everyone to find, TFTC.
