Wander around the interesting rock formations back in this area and you can find all kinds of fascinating treasures – including a few geocaches.

This cache is best accessed by the road that leads to the firing range outside of Del Norte.  Continue on the dirt road to visit an interesting quarry site.  A high-clearance vehicle, mountain bike, or ATV is recommended.  This is also a fun place to hike.  A number of side roads wander about the place.

The cache is a short hike off the road.  You are looking for some interesting rock formations with “huecos” (solution pockets).  Depending on your direction of approach, a bit of short scrambling may be required.  However, no real rock climbing moves are required, unless you are the size of a Hobbit.  Use extreme caution if you are trying to access the cache from the top of the rocks (not recommended).  As always in this area, keep an eye out for rattlers.  They will avoid you if they can; just don’t surprise them.

Some “violence” will be required to access the log.  Please take the time to repair and replace the cache as you found it.  Be sure to bring your own writing utensil.

Love going to caches that haven't been found for a while, and this one fits the bill. From Jeepin' Gina's we continued on the mountain bike trail until it got close to the road and then worked our way to the cache. While there, we saw the trail very close by, and we think the easiest and most enjoyable route between the two caches would be to stay on the bike trail. On the way back to the truck we tried the trail until it came very close to the road and then followed the latter. Great container in a very interesting place, and, yes, it helps to be tall. This one get the favorite point for a day of lonely caches in beautiful places. TFTC

I came in for this one on foot, cross country, from Jeepin Gina's 4x4. I don't recommend that. The coordinates were spot on and I love the container. Gets a favorite.

Flying pigs are apparently very shy and like to stay out of sight. I found this little pig hiding about 75 feet east of ground zero at N 37 38.678, W 106 18.458. Thanks!
