This is number 16 in a series of historical points within Douglas County Colorado.

The building at the coordinates was the Parker Consolidated School. It was built in 1914-1915 and eventually consolidated five schools and had grades 1 through 12. The high school classes, an office and an auditorium were on the second floor. The high school was accredited in 1920 and a four year program was started in 1924. Overcrowding occurred in the 40s. In 1958 the high school kids were sent to Castle Rock and the building was remodeled in 1960, then closed in 1966. In 1970 it became a Methodist church and in 1996 the building complex was purchased by the Town of Parker.

A trip through time: To the east of this building is the original Methodist church, later the library, built in 1914. Across the street was the Catholic Church, built in the 30s. It was moved to Aurora. Behind that church was the railroad, depot and water tower with warehouses west of that. Where Mountain Man is, was the telephone and newspaper office. West of that stands the building that was the Rhode Island Hotel, which now has offices. Some say that it is haunted. West of that was a blacksmith’s shop and then a large lumber yard. From the Parker Consolidated School and going west, on the corner was a barber shop, which was knocked down to build a post office that become an auto supply store. On west and behind the current buildings was a creamery.

To claim this geocache email what it says above the door of the "Parker Consolidated School."

I came up with xia888, LilRyRy, and CDRSheppo for an event, and I put the oldest caches nearby on our list to find along the way. I sent answers on behalf of the group, thanks for the virtual!

Day 1 of an epic 6 day journey out to the western frontier. I had some vacation time that I needed to burn up by the end of the year, and what better way to use it than to go Geocaching! My main goal was to find caches in New Mexico and Nevada, which would complete my map in the western US. The rest of the 4 remaining states are on the East Coast. Secondary goals were to find oldies, mostly virtuals, and high favorited caches. The only bad part of the trip was that it rained every single day of my vacation.

I headed south out of MN on Sunday and returned home on Friday.
Sunday - Drive all the way through to Colorado (15 hours!)
Monday - Cache in and around Denver and Colorado Springs, with an attempt at Pike's Peak (closed at Mile 14)
Tuesday - Head south towards GC19 and then west through Wolf Creek Pass
Wednesday - Four Corners monument and west towards Nevada
Thursday - After a night in Richfield, UT, head east through the skiing areas of Colorado towards Nebraska
Friday - The long drive home

Thanks to all the cache owners for placing these caches for me to find and for keeping the oldies going all these years.

On a Fall trip through Colorado doing some caching and seeing the sites. A beautiful scenic drive through Rocky Mountain National Park. Visiting the downtown areas of Boulder, Denver, Castle Rock and Colorado Springs to name a few. We enjoyed a beautiful hike on the Barr trail at the Summit of Pikes Peak. It was a wonderful trip with quite a bit of caching thrown in along the way. This is a busy place in the morning. Answer sent.

Visiting Parker from Colorado Springs. Discovered downtown Parker for lunch today. What a cool little place. Had to stop and get the virtual across the street. Will email answer and maybe picture too (have to download from the phone). Thanks for this cache and for maintaining all the older virtual caches in this region! Very much appreciated.
