This cache is located close to the trail in a lesser used part of this park. There are a couple miles of trails to explore just in this section. The cache is not hard to find, but there are a lot of cacti nearby. Step carefully!
The closest parking is about 1/4 miles away and is at N38 49.039 W104 51.104. It is is a residential area, but there is a marked trailhead. There is also a parking lot at N38 49.315 W103 51.349 which is 3/4 to 1 mile away via the trails. This is an animal themed cache at least to start.

Decided to do one after work and this one met one of my requirements. The general area I'm familiar with because the ex showed horses and have been to the arena more than once for reining; ahhh, memories, shudder... what I'd forgotten was that Bear Creek caused a good gap between the horse area and the trail area and rather than showing of a pohka skill or two I decided to use the trail system and get in a few steps. Have to say a nice hike to the cache, got my altitude steps in! The cache is truly a a 1 for difficulty, what I didn't realize was gorillagal was serious about this being the Bear Creek Zoo cache, she had an animal under the cache (see the photo!). After being a little startled, moving backward a little, and being thankful this one didn't carry rattles I signed the log and put the container back where it was; gorrilagal can keep her animals in her zoo!

TFTC I joined nicehice this morning for a bit of caching down in the Springs. It is a beautiful sunny day, but it is warming up quickly.

This cache is in great shape. My goodness, what wonderful views in all directions. Happy to give a Favorite point.
