This cache is first or last in the Rocky Mountain Off Road Series caches that heads up Storm Mountain. There are several approaches that can be attempted. This series will take you into a land that has off chute trails that you can explore as well as take you into an old burn area.
The trail(s) can go by several names depending on which maps you are looking at. Keep in mind there is a trail referred to as "Storm Drain". This is FS RD 153C that is a no exit trail that will test your nerve and skills. If you continue down this trail, expect Rocky Mountain pin striping on your vehicle. The trail is very narrow, tippy and “ledgy” and should be done with others. OHV’s or ATV’s should be able to do well on this trail but expect some challenges and tense moments. Remember that this trail has NO EXIT! You must return the way you went in.

Path Pacer and I decided to go caching today. We couldn’t have chosen a better day to head up and do some mountain caching. It was so clear and beautiful and the weather was perfect. We drove my Jeep Cherokee in hopes it wouldn’t be like bringing a knife to a gun fight. Though I would recommend a more robust ride, We did pretty well.....until the very last tough spot we had to go over on our way out. A very steep rocky hill that required some speed to keep me from spinning out. At the very top we were both smiling in relief until the squealing started coming from my front tire. We drove as far as we could while we had some air and found a flat spot to change the tire. It was a long drive in and out and sometimes a bit hairy, but we did ok. We really enjoyed this cache and it’s placement with very beautiful views. TFTC

We picked up this one on our way to another cache. What a great spot to gaze out over the plains on this wonderful, haze-free day. I can't remember the last time I was able to see so far. Cache is in good shape, well hidden but still easily accessible. Good swag. Definitely a favorite!

Found while out with Team Red Rubicon on a Saturday outing. Took a little bit of climbing, but still found it. What a fun way to spend a Saturday! :-)

I'm a bit behind in logging my caches...figured I better get it done!

Found the cache while out jeeping with Team Red Rubicon.

Out jeeping with Team Red Rubicon and friends. This was our second find of the day. We stopped and wandered around looking for the cache. Team Laxson spotted it first!

The weather was amazing for late October and we even encountered a little snow at the summit of Storm Mountain. We also ran Jug Trail...I don't think I've ever done that one before. Next time we have to find Nelson Spring. We saw a sign at the beginning of Jug Trail but never found the spring.

We had a great time!

Thanks!
