This section of the Rock Island Trail has recently been concreted.  It is a beautiful trail and has a lot of bike traffic; perfect for caches so I am placing a few.  I am starting on the west end and going east but you can find them in any order.    I hope you enjoy them.

FTF @ 7:53 PM

Gettin’ in the groove now! Yeah. This cache was a nice simple find along the trail and as I approached GZ, I saw a reflector up high along the fence and thought, “must be so the owner knows where it is” . Haha, maybe, maybe not, but either way it works out perfectly. Unfortunately, I will not be giving this one a favorite. It just didn’t quite hit the mark compared to the other two FTFs I got from this same owner along the same trail . I am still thrilled and joyful it gave me 3 FTFs on the day , and although I thought my first 10 FTFs would be favorite points “no matter what” I just can’t bring myself to do it on this one. Maybe the thrill of FTF seeking is wearing off already?!? Nahhhh, that can’t be it - just getting more restrictive on what constitutes a FTF favorite now… it’s gotta wow me like the first two! TFTC!

Daily Log

I started the day feeling a bit down due to lack of sleep and some loneliness. But I pushed myself to get out and find a geocache to keep my daily streak alive, and I’m so glad I did . The weather was perfect, and the unexplored beauty of Palmer Park left me in awe . It was a fantastic place to take in the views and snap some fun pictures !

After returning to the car with 3/3 successful finds in Palmer Park , I received 4 notifications about new geocaches nearby, just 10 minutes away . Without much hesitation, I entered the coordinates into Google Maps and headed over ?.

A few finds later, I had 3/4 First-to-Finds (FTFs) for the evening . Wow! I was having an absolute blast scoring so many FTFs in one go . I also faced my fears of the dark and exploring a new area. The trail system where I found the new geocaches was stunning and remarkable . I heard it was recently paved, and it’s so wide that it offers a nice path for everyone to share! Although the 4th FTF eluded me, I felt a mix of frustration and relief when I decided to call it a night and head back .

Reflecting on the day, I realized that even though I missed the 4th FTF, I had the perfect circumstances to be the first to find 3/4 new caches that popped up on my radar! It was serendipitous that I was just 4 minutes from reaching the car and heading home when I got the notifications . I thought, “It’s dark and getting late, but that makes me even more likely to be FTF. Let’s go night caching!”

Not only did I shake off my funk and enjoy some nature , geocaching, and sunsets , but I also had the chance to grab 3 FTFs and experience the thrill of night caching, which added to the adventure!
