From the time when kids had to walk up hill both ways to school in a blizzard, the Yuma County Historical society has set out to locate and mark as many country schools as possible.

Dist 56 was formed in 1919. It took the edges from districts 51, 72 & 88 to form a more local district between the schools. The Cement school house still stands today

By 1955 the school had not been used for 3 years due to lack of students. The district was then split off to Liberty 12J, Abarr & Elk school districts

CO FTF with denbomans. Visiting from Southern Illinois and exploring the eastern plains of Colorado. This Yuma County School Project caught our attention. The history is so well researched and caches nicely hidden. We are enjoying the experience. Thanks for placing all the fun

Yay {FTF} 11:00 a.m. we’ve been wanting to work on this series for a while and we knew the SiBo’s were coming for a visit so thought it would be fun to get them out on the plains and on top of that have a chance to get some Colorado FTF’s. Love the series concept, love the history and love the hides.
Thanks for the fun!
