The view was just like we remembered it. We were kinda surprised no one had logged a visit in 6 years.

I had the drive in and the hike completely to myself today. Shadow Creek Ranch is sure a large spread. The wildflowers were very nice on the hillside today. It's always nice to find an ammo can!

[Quite a hike! Especially with two ten year olds, and a six year old. Hiked down the closed road for a couple of switchbacks then decided to blaze straight through.] Hit the fence and went West. Decided it must be on the high knob, and my son found it in the bush. [Great views!
Took two bullets and left two carabiner key rings.]

I was in the Mahan Lakes area during black powder/archery season hunting elk and grouse up above this cache location. Decided to wander through a new area below forestry road 1830 in the direction of the cache in the afternoon. I still-hunted down an old logging road from 1830 in the general downhill direction for about two hours. There are a maze of overgrown roads to the west of where the cache sits, had to zigzag a bit in the general direction. The last .3 miles is bushwhacking on game trails through timber to where it opens up just above Shadow Creek Ranch. What a great spot. Left a muzzleloading bullet and took a bone. As soon as I left the cache and peeked over the next rise a bull elk wander across the clearing above me. Watched him for 30 seconds before he walked into the dark timber. Beautiful. SL TFTC

[Found this after bushwacking when we decided going to the Fence line' to the south was going the wrong way. Bad decession. Lots of climbing over trees and limbs. Came back a different way too. Started on a trail that petered out and lead to more bushwacking.
Took the yellow jeep TB (JP3H8F). Left a Hard Rock Cafe button.
If you are interested in what may be an easier route read the encrypted data.]
First a disclaimer: Some of this is guess work as we did not use 100% of this route and none of my turn point marks recorded. Still getting used to the new GPS I guess. Follow the normal instructions to get to the parking and closed off road. As you walk down the road take the first left. It's only maybe a quarter mile down the first road. This will go more directly toward the cache. Either it is a direct connect or you will take a left that will go to North thirty nine:fifty one point zero sixteen and west one hundred six: twenty two point one three four. This will be near a big meadow. There is a trail going left here. Don't go there. That is what we took to go back but it died and forced us to bushwack more. Part way back JC spotted the above side road that took us back to the original road.

We camped near the end of FR1831 and hiked to the cache following your directions. What a beautiful hike! Molly and I hung-out at the cache site for a bit, Molly hunting chipmunks and squirrels, while I checked out the wonderful view and logged my find. T- Reddish Chinese money? L- Signature Button and Yellow Jeep TB. We decided to bushwhack our way back to camp and found a game trail that took us the whole way dumping us out on the road just 100 yards from camp. :-) 3+ miles there and 1.4 miles back. What a great way to start the day! Thanks
