Congratulations to SummitCache for FTF!

We love geocaching here in our home town of Breckenridge, and we're excited to place our first cache! The cache is about halfway to Bakers Tank on Boreas Pass Road near the Valdero Trail trailhead.

Accessible year round. In the summer, it's an easy park and grab, but in the winter, Boreas Pass Road is closed to cars above the Bakers Tank Trailhead. It is a beautiful hike, snowshoe, or ski up the road, or up Bakers Tank Trail from there.

If you take the road, it's about a mile and a half above the parking lot. If you go up the trail, it's about a mile (see the waypoint marker for where to turn to get back to the road where the cache is).

We really hope you enjoy this one!

N 39° 27.762 W 106° 01.264
This is the parking lot for the Bakers Tank Trailhead. In the winter, the road is blocked off above this, so this is as far as you can drive. In the summer, you can drive all the way to the cache. From the parking lot, you can either walk up Bakers Tank trail, or go up the road to reach the cache.
R06RTFE - Fork in Trail
N 39° 27.366 W 106° 00.776
This is approximately a mile up Bakers Tank Trail from the parking lot. If you are hiking up the trail rather than the road, turn right at the fork here.

Hoofed it out there today doing the loop via barker tank. Temp was around -1 and no view. Had the trail mostly to myself in the morning Most of it i uses my yak traks on a packed trail. Some snow shoes had to work for the cache hard through deep snow I didn’t sign the log since it was around 0 degrees now way i would have gotten it back in. I have pic and can send a description of it. Very nice hide. My fourth cache in Colorado but more importantly it was found out hiking/snow shoeing the only one so far

we were in town for a week, (visiting from CA) girlfriend went skiing most of the times, while I went out hiking/ snow shoeing depending on the trail conditions, Breckenridge was a great area to explore, one of my favorite ones was going up to crystal lake on a great sunny day, ( a mile or so on a packed trail with yak traks and then with snow shoes all the way) we did grab a few caches in town in the later afternoon, when we also had to frequent the french bakery a few times for some yummy almond croissants,
thanks to all who hid the caches and made them available for winter as well
