We finally made it to Windy Ridge... they say the third time's a charm! At the mine we got stuck trying to get the Subaru past the rutted, steep hill and had to cautiously back down and park at the flat area. We then walked the 1/2 mile or so uphill to the Bristlecones. It was worth every oxygen-deprived breath we took, the view & pine trees were amazing!
Quick find, the log was wet so we replaced it. Nearby there's a rusted plaque on a tree in memory of someone, the poem on it is very sweet. Thanks odome for highlighting this spectacular area, doubt we would have heard about it any other way.

Today was a beautiful, sunny day for a ride to Windy Ridge. Followed the trail a ways and then cut across to GZ. The add'l hint only served to confuse us, but finally spotted the cache in a shady spot where the dog was resting. The container was damp inside and the log sheet wet, but we were still able to sign it. T4t

Broken chain! There is an amazing memorial on the bottom of a tree around the corner toward the valley side NE

Visiting from WI and doing a little hiking. Split off from the group for a quick find and a few pics of the view.
