Short easy hike from Mill-Castle Trailhead (see waypoint chart) to the cache. The cache is hidden in the forest, but great views and another geocache can be had if you keep hiking along the trail. Mill Creek Road (CR 727) access to the trailhead is a little rough. A high clearance vehicle is preferable -- there's a nasty little rivulet crossing that would be really hard on a car. Altitude is 9153'.
Mill Creek Road (CR 727) is off the Ohio Creek Road, west of HWY 135. Beautiful area for fall colors. Very nice in summer, too -- nice wildflowers. Wonderful winter recreation area for cross-country skiers and snowshoers.

Mill Creek is named for an old lumber mill of the 1800's. There are some remnants of the mill on a side stream up the trail from the trailhead.

The Castle-Mill Trail is an entrance to the West Elk Wilderness. No motorized vehicles or bicycles are allowed. It's also a popular hunting area. The cache is in a clear plastic box with a blue rim.

Hunting seasons are in September and October. If you venture out during hunting season, be sure to wear some blaze orange and be noisy.

TFTC! I started the with a ftf at another Flutiste cache and it inspired me to find a few more of Flutiste's well place caches. This is such a great trail. Geo-dog and I had a nice walk with perfect weather.

TFTC, found this on the way out to The Castles. TN, left toy Soldier. This was an easy find, but the difficulty is accurate for my lack of height.
