Middle of Segment 5 of the Colorado Trail.

Having always wanted to hike the Colorado Trail, I finally had my shot at it and it kicked my butt. I wanted the first portion to be a solo hike and spent the entire summer researching it and preparing for the experience. It was originally going to be 72 miles (segment 1-5) and then they closed Waterton canyon because a bear with cubs chased a guy on a bike. I was then going to do section 2-5 and had seven days, surely I could do it in seven days... Well life happened and I was needed at work for the weekend so I decided to do segment 4-5 and the first six miles of segment 6. Eventually I decided to take it easy and just complete segment 5 and the first six miles of segment six. I left out confident , excited and a little scared to be alone in the woods. On day two, I woke up in pain and had to continue another 5 miles just to get to a road where I could be picked up. Although I was unable to complete the original hike, I did 8 miles carrying 45 pounds on my back and survived a night alone in bear country. Feeling accomplished, I set this cache where my solo hike ended. I learned a lot in those 23 hours about myself and can scratch it off of my bucket list now. This marks where i will pick up my hike in the spring!.

Congrats to VBTZ on FTF!

Found quickly on a busy Labor Day Weekend. There was a group of runners tag-teaming the run on the CT. The husband had just finished his 8-mile hike and we watched as the wife set off to Kenosha Pass. I through-hiked here with my daughter 3 years ago and could not remember walking through this spot at all. Thanks for the hide!

We started our ride at Kenosha Pass and enjoyed the scenery. I have ridden this section several times. Looks like they're building a new big TH at Rock Creek. Was easy to find - I tied my horse right next to it. A fav point for a cache I could ride to.

Yay! I’m section hiking the CO Trail on my weekends. So this time it’s Seg 5. WOW, I’m the 1st to log this in not quite 2 years! There are a couple of Bobcats (heavy machinery, not the animal) up here doing some maintenance...though right now, they are at rest. Cache is in good shape. TFTC! :-)
