A pair of gumdrops guard this cache. The cache is a full sized ammo can buried in a rock pile. Some bushwhacking is required- but you will find yourself in an interesting spot with some nice views.

I have had my eye on this one for a long time. I was up on the peak for another hike today and managed to squeeze this one in as well. With a good look at the satellite photo before I left I was able to find a good route to the cache but it's a steep hike back out no matter how you do it. I can confirm that HeineHunter's signature is not in the log. Since this cache is not on the way to the RTP final that he mentioned maybe it was a log intended for a different cache. TFTC

Very big Gumdrops!

I worked my way down to this one and a few Elk were very surprised to see me at the bottom.

Nice container and a fun hide!

Thanks!

Grabbed the trackables that been in here for a few years.

Found it on my way to finishing the RTP multi. Kinda surprised that it has been found so seldom and it's been 4 years since being found.

Wanted to get this cache done before the snow made me put it off until spring...took the long way around to get down to it, and then a more direct, but much harder, route back to the Jeep. 4.5 miles round trip, but a lot of gorgeous scenery. TFTC!

Wow, what a great hike! I've hiked trail 652 several times and always looked down at the wetlands and wondered what it was like. Well, today I got the chance to find out. Estes01 and I started at Elk Park and bushwhacked our way down the steep slope to the wetlands. And wet they were! All sorts of tracks including (at least) bear, mountain lion, elk, and human. After finding the cache, we briefly considered trying to cross the swamp and scramble up to trail 652 to head back but decided there was no way we would be able to keep dry. In the end, we went back the way we came. I took one jeep and left another. Great location - about as remote as they come. SL, TFTC!
