Dogs  Parking available  Medium hike (1km-10km)

The micro on the top of this small mountain that overlooks Loveland Pass affords excellent views of Pass Lake, Sniktau, Cupid, Grizzly and Torreys to the east and A Basin and Keystone ski resorts to the south.

Park at Loveland Pass and take the trail west of the road to a saddle west of Peak 12,585. Turn left and walk up to the top of the mountain. (The route up from Pass Lake would likely be much more difficult).  The hike is between 1.5 and 2 km from Loveland Pass and from the pass to the top of the mountain is about a 600 foot climb.

As this is a high country hike, remember to wear sturdy hiking boots, carry enough water (even though this is a short hike), and watch the weather. Thunderstorms occur on many afternoons, particularly in the summer months. Also watch for signs of altitude sickness--especially if you are visitor to Colorado--take it slow if you are not accustomed to the altitude and enjoy the views and the many wildflowers when they are available.

Because the point of this cache is to bring cachers to a lovely spot and to take a hike--if there is too much snow to find the container or if it has dropped into the rocks too far to find, or any other disaster that can occur to a small cache in the mountains--just take a photo of your gps at the cache site, and if you wish, yourself, and you will have earned your smiley. Congratulations to SummitCache as first to find.

Struck out on this one today, but we enjoyed the hike.

And some others brsides. The two peaks, I was certain I had the right place, this one the most certain, but definitely nothing there even with every rock removed. Could be around as there are so many hiding spots. In between, I wasn't even certain of looking in the right spot. Neglected to search for the one closest to the pass.

We left the trailhead a little later than planned after caching at the pass lakes, but we started our climb still early in the morning. We were feeling some altitude effects, and we took it very slow, stopping every few minutes to rest. With each step we gained altitude and the views got better. We saw hawks, butterflies, and a marmot-like animal. When we crested the final ridge the view almost made me emotional! This is one of my favorite caches I've found, and by far my highest. Unfortunately the cache container appeared to be missing, at least based on the spoiler pic. Thanks for bringing us here!

Searched a little but using the picture option. Great hike for a flat lander from the Midwest.

That was hardly a "chastisement". It was a reminder of what the original owner established as a procedure in such an instance as was described in the DNF log. When I adopted the cache I agreed to continue that process, which is clearly stated in the cache description.
