Seeing as BTX had FTF on this cache it is only right that he be the FT "officially" log regrets at it's passing.
We/I spent a good length of time yesterday evening reviewing all the logs and re-living our find. I then sent a msg directly to Doug&Katie with my regrets of it's passing but never thought to log it on the site. BTX's log made me do it! As mentioned in our initial found it log, the fact that it is seldom found was a part of the experience!
About once a year I go through our FAVs deleting the point from caches that have been archived as many of our FAV points are giving more as encouragement to newbies than the greatness of the cache. There ARE however a few archived caches that we do not remove the point simply because we want to be able to re-live the memory of that great cache. THIS would be one of those and is certainly in the top 10 of our all time FAV caches. We had hoped to someday may make the trek again with friends and plant a trail of caches out to the point to make it more likely that cachers would come - we have done this several times in the past and usually name them something like "xyz Additional Encouragement abc" cache. We did that on Hidden in the Hunting Ground - and it made a difference - but even if the CO were to keep it alive don't know when we would be able to do it on this one, not this year for sure. Our IACG#6 is the closest cache to it, you can drive up to it, and it has only been found 7 times in it's 4 year history. People just don't often come out this far.
Note that it took almost 2 yrs for FTF! well worth the wait!

Out on a mountain bike ride for our 17th wedding anniversary. Looked for this one for a good half hour and almost gave up. Ended up being in the first place we looked! Sometimes I make these too hard!! We rode the Flowing Park Loop, Indian Point trail, total miles for the day 15. Great day for it!! TFTC, SL

Quite a hike out here! We started out on bikes and ditched them about .5 miles before arriving at "Half Way Cache" as we were walking the bikes more than riding and the trail was getting rutted so deep by cattle that it was difficult to keep from riding up the edges and getting flipped! Total time round trip was right at 4 hours. At the time is was only the thought of getting the cache that kept us going but in hind sight we really feel good about it! We love caches with History behind them, and this one had it! We also love caches that are rarely found, this fit that bill! Gives one a sense of accomplishment and the knowledge that you are a part of a very rare breed of geocachers. The only cache we have put more effort into logging is -GC1CBJR- Are YOU serious? which has a find rate similar to this one. We have made a personal goal of logging every cache on the western half of Grand Mesa and figured this would be the most difficult one of the lot, we were not disappointed! With this we should be well over the half way point in terms of time and difficulty.
Found cache in great condition. TFTC SL Visited TBs. Gets a FAV point for the history background! Wish the photo in the log book was posted here!
p.s. Traded for a SWAG which we turned into a TB -Y36NM0- Tatanka (Buffalo in Lakota language) which was also very cool as we are now visiting that TB to the cache from which it originated! - - After visiting the TB around the top of Grand Mesa for several weeks visiting it to the area in which it was bred, we made our finial release off this cute TB from "Lone Grave". See photo gallery for more info!

Oh, my gosh! another glorious day on the Grand Mesa and a find, too. This season of horsing around on the Mesa will soon be drawing to a close because of hunting season. We wear orange, our horses, too; but to be safe we try to avoid being a target. Check out the picture of Cow Camp. . . tent, truck, ATV, fire ring. See for yourself what a nice camp the cows are enjoying. Thanks for the cache and the hint, too. Yes, indeed there are several rocks. BIG ones, too. SL TNLN

Sioux Moon and I took our trusty steeds out for another day of geocaching. It has been on our to-do list and this was the perfect fall day to complete the task. The Mesa is filled with hunters and we went by a nice cow camp on the way to the trail-head. Really enjoyed being on top of the world with it's magnificent views. TFTC

Has been nearly a year again since this cache had been visited. It is in great shape... The spoiler pictures were handy once I arrived. It is so dry this year, the wildflowers made for colorful patches along the way...Hiked out here with the Tuesday hike club from GJ. 12 miles is a bit longer than I usually take off for but the terrain was level and scenic and conversation made the miles go quickly... Lunch at the point and then back was a perfect day. A few bicyclists out here, but mostly had the place to ourselves. TFTC!

Mooner and I rode out to the point. The Cache was well hiddin but as discribed. Much apprcieat the history lesson and 1900 photo of the cattle drive that came up to that point. Further The view is spectacular and unique! This is what Geocaching is about. It took effort to get there walk, run, bike or horse. Supprized no one had viseted it in a year.
Left green and orange fish, Masoinic pin and Studoirl's Bufflow Charm.
