Poplar Gulch Trailhead is just outside the old ghost town of St Elmo at the bottom of Tincup pass. If You dont have a 4-wheel and high clearance vehicle, You can park in town and hike up to the trailhead
At the bottom of Tincup pass is the poplar Gulch Trailhead . This 5 mile trail goes up and over a large ridge and drops into Green timber Gulch on the south cottonwood side. Open to hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and motorcycles too . We have not hiked this trail But From what I read , It will get rough in places But the view up top in the apine tundra is GREAT! starts at 10,000 feet and goes up to 12,250 feet
Marma and I brought a cache container to hide around the ghost town of Tincup but ended up placing it here at bottom of Tincup pass on St Elmo side.
Marma and I went up over Tincup pass in my 1991 Chevy pickup ,Other than the tailpipe falling off the day before the trail was AWSOME.
