This is a nice town hike to overlook the train depot, Carter Park and the ski slopes.

This is near the final switchback at the top of Jack's Cruel Joke as you are coming off Sunbeam, or as suggested in another log, you can come straight across Hermit Placer trail. .  If you are a mountain newby, you will get a little out of breath, but this is an otherwise fairly easy hike, just watch out for mountain bikers it is just off the trail, and the title is a nice clue.

You are looking for an ammo can, and it has two bookcrossing.com books There are some other odds and ends as well.
Have fun!

N39° 28.361 W106° 02.141
Coordinates changed from:
N 39° 28.351 W 106° 2.137

Coordinates changed to:
N 39° 28.361 W 106° 2.141

Distance from original: 63.4 feet or 19.3 meters.

Moved this to get it a bit more off the private path. I think it was intimidating to go past the "private trail" marker, so I moved it closer to the public path, but still "at the end of the tunnel"

I have a bad habit of always doing things the hard way and today was no exception. My GPS indicated the cache was 20 feet down the side. Sure a big huge stump. Great place for a hide but I'm not going down. Oh sure you are. I worked my way down clinging to the stump for dear life for nothing. Ok back up to safety. I look down and there it is. No need to go off the trail!! Thanks for the adventure. A favorite for the view after all that.

It took us a bit. Agree with another geocacher, might be easier access from Hermit Placer (especially if you aren't used to high altitude). Awesome views though!

Happy 4th of July. I stopped by as one of my 15 caches today on my walk around town. Up to this one after coming down from Little Mtn.
