Dogs  Scenic view  Significant hike  Difficult climbing  Not Available at all times  Not Available during winter  No Night Cache  No Park and Grab  Medium hike (1km-10km)

Difficulty 1 -- easy to find. Terrain 4 -- not easy to get to. TAKE LOTS OF WATER and GOOD HIKING SHOES. I copied this terrain rating from ernie66, whose cache we were enroute to when we planted this one not far from his.
Mini decon kit. We kept "Blue" in the title like the two caches we found prior to planting this one, and the one afterwards. We like the classic rock group "Boston", so we named this third cache enroute Blue Mountain "Third Stage". Total of 4 Blue caches now on this trek. See photo for the EASY to spot difficulty 1 cache.

CONGRATULATIONS to hartsdale for FTF !!!

Had an exhausting hike up blue mountain today with WingsAndTales. It was a gorgeous day. Very little soft snow left in spots. Tftc!

There was barely a cloud in the deep blue sky all day long as we made our way to Blue Mt and back. I had forgotten just how tough this hike really is. I was a little worried as we approached GZ and saw a large tree down. Fortunately it didn't affect the cache which we found after a short search. We caught a good view of Spanish Peaks along the way too. TFTC

I think this is trip #4 on the Blue Mountain approach for estes01 and me. We finally found a route up to the high ridge that is more-or-less free of deadfall. I'll be sure to keep that GPS track in case it's necessary to return again in the future. We watched a group of hawks doing what looked like flight lessons for their offspring - very cool to see. As usual, we didn't see another soul the entire day. Great area, thanks for bringing us back here!

Wow Croweman was the last to do this one! I remember him…he took my Colorado Columbine coin to South Carolina when I wanted it to stay in Colorado. But that's another story. I cannot believe we haven't gone after this one before now. It's such a great hike, in part, because it requires imagination in route finding. Ernie suggested doing a couple of challenging caches today and, out of desperation for his choices, I started looking at the map. Perfect! Not only a good hike but I'm biased because of the cache owners. It turned out to be an eventful hike with all sorts of wildlife and plenty of mushrooms to entertain me. I love to stab the mushrooms with my hiking pole. The best ones "poof" brownish-green spores into the air when you spear them and then continue to poof when you stomp on them. No problem finding the cache at all and it's in great condition, except for a few minor teeth marks around the outside of the lid. Thank you for a very fun day!
