You may find the cache and sign the log book at any time, but you must also complete the challenge below to log as a find online.

Find 111 distinct caches anywhere in the world that each contain a separate chemical symbol in the GC code from the Periodic Table.

The rules are simple:

  1. There are currently 118 elements on the Periodic Table. You must have logged a find for 111 caches whose GC code contains a distinct element.
  2. Since there are letters that are not used in GC codes, in order to make this challenge work here are the substitutions you should use:
    • Number 0 (zero) = Letter O
    • Number 1 = Letter I
    • Number 5 = Letter S
    • Letter V = Letter U (so you can use V for both U and V)
    • Number 7 = Letter L
    • NOTE: Reminder, 7=L and 1=I. They are not interchangeable!
  3. The "GC" prefix that is part of every geocache code does NOT count as part of any element, meaning you cannot use the "C" in GC for any elements.
  4. Any cache found at any time anywhere in the world is valid. So you may already qualify for this challenge.
  5. Each cache can only be used for a single element. For example, GCHE45 can be used for Hydrogen (H) or Helium (He), but not both.
  6. The element letters must be next to each other and cannot be separated by another letter or number. For example, GCHE45 is valid for Helium (He), but GCH5E4 is not.
  7. You must list your qualifying caches in either a log entry with the GC code and element used, or as a bookmark list attached to this cache. I have created a link to the list of the 114 caches I have found that would count for this challenge as an example, and posted it in a note in the logs section.
  8. Feel free to sign the log at any time and log a "note" on the cache page when you do so. But you may not log a find online until you have completed the requirements.
  9. This cache does NOT count towards 1 of the 111.
  10. Element #114 is Fl, that's F and a lowercase "L", NOT uppercase "i". So the GC code should contain F7. Element #114 was originally named ununquadium and had symbol UUQ. This symbol is no longer valid.

MPLC

Our English is not perfect, we use Google Translate to help us ...

Our journey began last August 22 and will take us to visit twelve US states and two Canadian provinces ... Our departure was from Baie-Comeau, a city on the North Shore of Quebec and then continue for a few days in Quebec City where we did some Geocaching .... Then we stopped at St-Eustache and Ville de Laval, still in Quebec, and then flew to Portland, Oregon... We made stop in Umatilla on August 28 still in Oregon, August 29 in Boise, Idaho, August 30 in Twin Falls and August 31st we are in Salt Lake City for two days... The 2nd of september we were in Rock Springs. Wyoming and the september 3 the road brought us to Laramie, Wyoming... Today will be our second and final day in the Colorado Springs area

Throughout the trip we have targeted some caches that will help us achieve our personal goals and we will certainly discover new places that Geocachers here will want us to discover ... We have been planning this trip for several months and know we will not be able to not all see for lack of time ... There are many caches but we must close our eyes can not find them all ... But it is with pleasure that we will put our signature on some of them ...

Thank you for creating these caches that add smiles to our profile and make us have a good time regardless of the mood of Mother Nature ... Our log will be the same for the whole day and if there is a particularity we will add it at the beginning of the text ... Favorites will be added here and there for all the work done ... TFTC

We have a similar challenge in Austin, that was created and placed after this one. I had just started caching that year, so had some work to do to find the appropriate caches, but eventually I made it. So, this one was elementary after that.

Great to have a challenge where parking was not a perceived threat to life and limb.

At least one challenge cache, where we did not felt uneasy parking on the shoulder of a highway... and a nice challenge is this one for shure!
