The cache is hidden quite a ways above the river on the west end of the first segment of the Colorado Trail. The first segment runs from Waterton Canyon to the footbridge that crosses the river. You can park there.
This cache is a rehide of another cache of mine that I archived because of the lengthy closure of Waterton Canyon. That one was called Waterton Side Trail #1 (GC1J3G0). It’s the same container – a trail mix jar.

I called this cache "That Which is Steep" because I expected this trail to be quite steep based on descriptions I have read. I thought it was not as steep as expected but I left the cache name as is.

This cache is hidden by a large split rock a bit off the trail. There is a nasty little cactus about a foot in front of the cache - watch out for that.
