The cache is a smaller ammo can so is good for the kids and people that don't want to look for micro and nano caches. Please replace better or as good as you found it. Watch for muggles!!! To access the cache please approach the cache using the designated trails and refrain from taking short cuts.
This cache is located along the year round popular Barbara Whipple Trail. From 1887-1917(ish) this was referred to as the "Hack" Road. It was used by the wagons carrying freight, ore, and supplies to and from the Midland Railroad depot to the town of Buena Vista. There is a nice bench and information sign telling more of the history of the area right near the cache. Also a good place to take a break from the hike.
To access the cache please approach the cache using the trails and refrain from taking short cuts. You can get to this cache from the River Park at the end of Main Street and take one of two trails to it. From there, once you start up this trail you can go left (up) or right (down). Left is a bit steeper up front but shorter distance. Right is not nearly as steep but a bit longer. Or you can park in the parking area above the cache on County Rd 301 and follow the trail down to the cache. I have a few fossils from the area and a couple other items in it for trade but am leaving it open to whatever people want to add to it.
Enjoy the hike!
Congrats bike2caches for the FTF!!!
