This is one of 7 puzzle caches which together constitute the
Boulder County Puzzle Tour. For each leg, the cache is not at
the posted coordinates. Solve the puzzle, find the cache, and note
the clue. Once all 6 'city' or 'town' stages have been completed,
the garnered clues can be used to unlock the FINAL cache, somewhere
in Boulder County.
**********
This is a logic puzzle in which the object is to eliminate (or
'shade in') numbers so that numbers don't appear in any row or
column more than once. Shaded squares must not touch each other
vertically or horizontally, while unshaded squares must create a
single continuous area. See attached example for a solved
puzzle.
Once complete, you then need to convert the puzzle to
coordinates. For each row A through I (top to bottom), write down
each SHADED number in order from left to right; this will give you
9 new numbers for each row. In the attached example, the new number
created for row D would be 43.
Checksum (A through I) = 2947
Using these 9 new numbers coded A through I, the cache can be
found at:
N 40 [D+H-I]/1000
W 105 [(B*E)+G+H-F]/1000

NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! Evidently the oil and gas folks have
never heard the old song "Don't Fence Me In". As a result, the
final for this puzzle has been adjusted. Once you have solved the
puzzle, subtract 0.005 from the N coordinate, and add 0.004 to the
W coordinate!
