Scenic view  Parking available  Bicycles

This is our first Geocache. We chose this area, with its scenic beauty and easy access, as part of a project for our cub scout troop, which we hope to introduce to Geocaching and to map and compass skills.

It is hidden along a very pleasant section of the LoBo Trail passing through the Gunbarrel area, connecting Longmont and Boulder.  The views to the west are spectacular, especially at sunrise and sunset, and it's a great stretch of trail for a bike ride or a walk.  In the Spring and Summer when the ditches are flowing, the sound of running water adds a feeling of calm.  There are great wildlife viewing opportunities here too, especially for birders. We've seen red foxes, turtles, coyotes, owls, bald and golden eagles, falcons, hawks, herons...

The trail can be accessed from a number of points either on foot or bicycle.  For quick in-and-outs, parking can be found at the end of Glacier View Rd., which dead-ends as a court next to a small neighborhood park.  From there, take the paved walkway leading north toward Park Lane Rd. and veer right.  You'll almost immediately arrive at Gunbarrel road, where you'll turn left and follow the road until it dead-ends into a gateway that leads you to the LoBo Trail.

You are looking for a small tin, wrapped in wood-grain camouflage tape. The tin contains five stone arrowhead points, a "rite-in-the-rain" log, and is marked with an "official geocache" sticker inside the lid. The stone arrow points could represent that we are working toward our "Arrow of Light" for the Scouts, but really, they're also just a cool trade-able! There are no pencils/pens inside so don't forget to bring your own writing implements or stamps!

Whether on a bike or on foot, enjoy the scenery, and we hope you have fun searching for our very first Geocache!

CONGRATULATIONS TO DES FOR FTF, AND IT'S SUCH AN HONOR THAT OUR FIRST CACHE HAS BEEN FOUND BY A FORMER SCOUT! **BASED ON DES's EXPERIENCE WITH HIS SEARCH, AND FOLLOWING HIS RECOMMENDATION, WE'RE RAISING THE DIFFICULTY TO 3 STARS.

Made the find after a few minutes search. I'd say there's more than one or two places to look for this one.

Can't understand how we didn't spot this one back in December. Yes, it was really cold then, but not cold enough to freeze our eyelids shut!

This could be a tough one to find. It didn't take us long though. SL. Thanks.

Good coordinates helped us find the cache. A nice day to be walking along the trail. I think a remember another great cache along this trail.

Our only DNF of the day. You got us with this one - 2 sets of eyes for about 30 minutes. Hard to imagine something here could be muggled again so easily, so it was probably us. It's going to take another trip to get this one to reveal itself.

Biked 14 miles up from S. Boulder early this AM to try for a FTF. Since there are a bazillion places to hide it, it took me about 25 minutes to finally locate it after almost giving up several times. I'd up this to a 3 difficulty. I'm sure many of the passing dog walkers assumed I was taking a pee break in the bushes (I wasn't). SL, my 49th FTF.
