Scenic view  Parking available  Bicycles

This is our second Geocache. We chose this area, with its scenic beauty and easy access, as part of a project for our cub scout troop, which we hope to introduce to Geocaching and to map and compass skills.

It is hidden at a three-way intersection of the LoBo Trail passing through the Gunbarrel area, connecting Longmont and Boulder.  The views to the west are spectacular, especially at sunrise and sunset, and it's a great stretch of trail for a bike ride or a walk.  In the Spring and Summer when the ditches are flowing, the sound of running water adds a feeling of calm.  There are great wildlife viewing opportunities here too, especially for birders. We've seen red foxes, turtles, coyotes, owls, bald and golden eagles, falcons, hawks, herons, lots of different songbirds...

The trail can be accessed from a number of points either on foot or bicycle.  For quick in-and-outs, parking can be found at the end of Glacier View Rd., which dead-ends as a court next to a small neighborhood park.  From there, take the paved walkway leading north toward Park Lane Rd. and veer right.  You'll almost immediately arrive at Gunbarrel road, where you'll turn left and follow the road until it dead-ends into a gateway that leads you to the LoBo Trail.

River Ruckus is so-called because this cache is located at a three-way intersection right next to a bridge, where the rushing water makes a ruckus, and during busier times of day you really have to watch where you're going to avoid a collision with other trail users, potentially causing a different type of ruckus!

You are looking for a small tin, wrapped in wood-grain camouflage tape. The tin contains five stone arrowhead points, a "rite-in-the-rain" log, and is marked with an "official geocache" sticker inside the lid. The stone arrow points could represent that we are working toward our "Arrow of Light" for the Scouts, but really, they're also just a cool trade-able! There are no pencils/pens inside so don't forget to bring your own writing implements or stamps!

Whether on a bike or on foot, enjoy the scenery, and we hope you have fun searching for our very second Geocache!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALPENIST FOR FTF!

I'm a little concerned that this container type situated in this way tends to allow water to enter and often rusts fairly quickly. All in good shape at the moment, though.

I could have been FTF on this one back on 8/8. I had biked up from S. Boulder to be FTF on the Cottonwood cache just down the trail. After that I rode to this bridge to rest, not yet aware there was a cache here. It wasn't until I got home that I saw the notification email about Ruckus. Oh, well...

This might get pretty damp when the snows come. SL.

What a wonderful find! Went at dusk to avoid the ruckus of people and found a ruckus of insects :) Truly is a beautiful trail. TFTC!
