From the time when kids had to walk up hill both ways in a blizzard to get to school, The Yuma County Historical Society has set out to locate and mark as many old schools as possible
In 1912 after the Town of Idalia was moved the School board purchased a 300 sq ft plot of land at this area north of town to build a school. The school was to be 24 X 40 Feet with an 8x12 anteroom and a 12 x 16 basement. The lowest bid to build the school was for $156. Constrcution started in Sept of 1912 and was finished by the end of October. School continued until 1946 at this location. At that time Idalia, North Logan, Star, Kayton & Boden consolidated to form District 74 J and a new school was built in town. After that Cement, Ash Grove, South Logan, Dewey Ridge, and Newton were annexed into the district
