Native American Tribes series.
Deadose

The Deadose were a group of Native Americans in modern Texas closely associated with the Jumayo, Yojuane, Bidaj and other groups living in the Rancheria Grande of the Brazos River in modern eastern Texas in the early 18th century. Like other groups in the Rancheria Grande the Deadose moved to the San Gabriel River missions in the 1740s. The Deadose were along with the Yojuane, Mayeye and Bidai those who requested the Franciscan missionaries to come and set up missions for them. However many of the Deadoseas as well as the Bidai and Akokia only went to the vicinity of the missions to trade with the soldiers. They also had set up trade networks that extended to the French in Louisiana. In 1750 the Deadose and their Bidai and Akokia associates at Mission San Ildefonso left in an alliance with other tribes to attack the Apache. The Deadose did not come back to the mission until 1752. In the mission the Deadose intermarried heavily with the Akokisa and Bidai

This one was so buried it took a bit to dig it out. It was also a bit soaked. I only had one container left and decided not to replace this one. I'm glad I didn't, the container was needed a little ways down the road.

Some people call Wednesday hump day, I call it cache day! Being the time of year it is, at lunch I thought about it and decided I did not have the feeling I would see a danger noodle (snake) today, so I hit the plains and had mixed luck. The grass has grown up in some areas to the point where I didn't dare go in, and in other places I went in but had no luck finding the cache. Probably easier with no or dead grass... Anyhoo, I did find most of what I looked for and even had a little fun on a non-maintained road. A big thank you to the COs for placing these and putting smileys on my face today! Find #3748

Out from Bend Oregon for a little a little work and a little caching. Thanks so much to all the cacher’s that have placed these smiles for all to find.

I would hate to be on this road when it’s raining.

We are Geocaching the world one cache at a time!  May the wind be at your back and the sun shine warm upon your face!
