A multi-cache going about 2 miles one-way along the Signal Mountain trail. Some scrambling up rocks is required.

Congrats to icezebra11 for the FTF!

The first mountain/hiking cache, and the first multi-cache we ever did was Young Gulch Multi. It was our favorite cache up to that point, and is still in our top few, with some fun memories associated with it. That year for Christmas the other half of the caching team got me a set of containers with the idea of hiding a similar style of multi-cache. Two and a half years later, we finally hid our first cache on the Signal Mountain trail.

This is a nice trail that we like to hike in the summer. July is a good time for wildflowers, and you can see some small trout in Pennock Creek. Its not a hard trail to hike, though the cache ups the difficulty a bit.

The later stages involve some scrambling, though not extreme, and with little exposure. The final has an elevation component that is likely to leave most people winded at least. We took a route up on the south side of the geological feature, which was tough but reasonably safe and straight-forward. Other routes may be possible, but we found lots of loose rocks in our exploration, so please be careful.

Please leave the cards with the coordinate for the next stage, they should be left in the containers. Final container is regular sized, first stage is micro. Signal bounce and elevation issues make the stages a bit harder to find, but hopefully not too hard.

The starting contents of the cache are toys and fun things and a travel bug ready to start its journey.

Was in the neighborhood so went ahead and checked on this cache. The first stage was missing once again. Somewhere up there a squirrel has a lot of plastic containers in its home. Moved it a couple feet, but not enough to change the coordinates. Rest of the cache was in good shape.

I've been excited about this multi sequence since its publication, and am happy to report that I've finally signed the log book. ArkF mentions in the cache description that it was inspired by my multi-cache in Young Gulch. Unfortunately, that great cache sequence needed to be archived after the Young Gulch trail was destroyed first by the High Park Fire, and then by the devastating flood of September 2013. The USFS closed the entire gulch to public access, and the closure remains in effect even now, 3 years after the flood event. So ArkF's Scrambling the Signal truly represents a "renewal" of the conceptual theme initiated in Young Gulch so many years before, and it in fact takes that theme to a much higher level of quality. Scrambling the Signal IS a marvelous creation.

Soon after icezebra11 had the FTF on Scrambling the Signal my puppy Orizaba and I hiked the Signal Mountain Trail, expecting to get STF on this fine cache. Alas, the first stage was missing. ArkF was highly responsive to my note and quickly got a stage replacement hidden. A year later Zaba and I found that stage but I was unable to locate the second stage--as it turns out, that stage was in place, but I simply made my hunt more difficult than it needed to be, and made a clean "miss" on finding it. Today I modified my search concept and quickly had the coordinates in hand for the Final. My puppy Orizaba and I made the hike and scramble to the vicinity of the final container and soon had the cache log in hand. It's placed in a marvelous spot. And it's in excellent condition and nicely stocked.

This is a wonderful multi, and I congratulate and thank ArkF for it. And thanks also for your diligence in checking on and maintaining the sequence.

Went to check this one again after the recent DNF. Found that the first stage container as well as the rocks that had been concealing it were gone. Replaced the stage again in what I hope is a more long-term spot. My GPS has consistently been a bit squirrely in this area, so I beefed up the hint a little since the new hide is harder. The rest of the stages were in good condition, so this is ready to find again.

We looked for a long time around the outside of both log ruins, but couldn't find the first stage. I was pretty disappointed since I'd planned on doing the cache as I went up the mountain. I had to settle for the benchmark instead.

Fantastic day for a hike and scramble. Cache is in good condition. Grabbed the coin to move it along. TFTC
