The rare "large" cache and a nice hike.  If you have a 4WD vehicle, you can get within half a mile of GZ and the rest is bushwhacking.  If you don't have 4WD, park on Deadman Road at the designated coordinates and hoof in.

In both cases, approach from the northwest for the best terrain.  With the right approach, you will not encounter more than rock scrambles.

Super-congrats to Denali41 for the FTF and a really sweet log!

UPDATE: I've tried several routes including to the south. Coming from NNW is the only sane route.

In French, "lavabo" means sink or washbasin.  This cache is situated in a basin at the top of a great view at 9500ft altitude: http://360.io/5FaCaF

Finally made it to the main event. Found the general area, then quickly found the cache. It was hanging out in plain view, probably not how it was supposed to be. I didn't have any supplies to help hang it better. Some happy muggles found it last fall and added their thoughts to the log. All in good condition except the hanging part. Didn't think to bring trade goods, so TNLN.

Walked up to the top of the rock for lunch after signing the log. About 11 years ago, a friend and I tried to hike North Lone Pine trail, but the road was blocked with snow before we got there. We parked where we had to stop, and I convinced her to try to hike with me to a cool rock formation across a gully. We gave up partway there, after fighting through knee deep or worse snow in our jeans and hiking boots. I was excited today to realize that I was heading for that same formation, and with much better chances for success. No snow and a smarter route. Its like avenging a DNF!

Very nice area, very nice views. Had a hawk circling below my vantage point as I ate. Thanks for this cache!

I was now on a roll. I met the CO and we exchanged pleasantries. I'm feeling good. After some hiking upward toward the final cache in the series I come across another pair of hikers. It turns out that this dynamic duo is a father and daughter, hiking, camping, hunting and shooting pair of muggles. They sat quietly as I approached. I explained what I was doing there and they seemed intrigued by the search. I asked if they wanted to join me in my effort to find this cache. They were excited to join me. We had another 300' or more to get to ground zero. Almost all of it was bouldering. The duo hale from Loveland and like to bow hunt in this area. Clint and Alex clambered on up the rocks and we made good time getting there. Alex led the final way to get to GZ using my Garmin and Clint spotted the container as we looked down over the edge of some boulders into a pool of water. How appropriate. Lavabo. This cache owner must know what he is talking about. Anyway, together we explored the pot of plenty, like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Clint, Alex and I were all impressed with the contents of this unusual cache container. Nicely done, Triggur. Fun to meet you Clint and Alex. We'll see you on the caching trail in Loveland sometime.
