Had to give up after searching for about half an hour. Great location but very difficult to find a micro here.

My friend Denali41 has been on an extended caching sabbatical due to several surgeries last fall that required extensive rehab but recently he let me know he was getting close to being able to get back out again. Three weeks ago I mentioned to him that I intended to go for his NTB-Rawah cache soon and invited him to get out for a snowshoe with me if he was feeling up to it. We attempted to get the hike in two weeks ago but some effects of the surgeries caused a postponement. We arranged to try again today and all went very well, it was a great day to get out and hit the trail!
It was a bright, sunny, February day in the high country. The temperature was near 30° when Denali41, his puppy Orizaba, and I left the vehicle and it was around 40° when we got back. We enjoyed a nice snowshoe up the Sawmill trail to the Rawah cache site. Denali41 and Zaba stayed on the trail while I went the last bit off-trail to the cache. It was in perfect shape and I happily signed the log in the FTF position!
On the return drive down Poudre Canyon Denali asked me if I'd ever tried Yar's Rainbow Revenge and the answer was no, I hadn't. So when we reached the appropriate parking area we stopped and headed for GZ. I will admit that I had way too much help from Denali41 in locating this cache but it is safe and sound in it's hiding spot. I can see why it has been a really tough cache, especially in high water. But with patience it can be found. Thanks Steve for the "guiding hand" and thanks Yar56 for this really tricky "park and grab"!!!

It's been almost a year since this great cache has been checked, so I stopped today as I was coming down Poudre Canyon. The cache is in perfect condition and is in the correct location.

I've passed by this cache location several times this summer while I was going to or returning from climbs farther up Poudre Canyon or in North Park. Each time the river's water level was too high to safely be messing around in the vicinity, so I never stopped. Today was the first time this year that the water level was down to near-normal levels. I decided to stop and check, expecting that the extreme flood conditions had carried the cache container away. This was indeed the case. I put a replacement container with fresh log exactly where the original had been placed, so this great, challenging cache is fine again. Expect to spend LOTS of time on your search. I recall how long it took me, several years ago!
