A small community formed in this valley in the 1870s, centered on mining activities that reached over Webster Pass from the mining towns in Clear Creek County.  The valley and town were named for Colonel Jairus Hall, who settled in Georgetown in the late 1860s and served in the Territorial Legislature. The remote mining camp had its own smelter as well as stores, saloons, and fine homes and maintained its own post office from 1874 to 1898. The Whale Mine, near the summit of Webster Pass, is perhaps the most well known of the mines in Hall Valley. It was owned by Colonel Hall and had its own tramway system and smelter that processed ore from the mine. A handful of buildings still remain in the valley, but much of the townsite has been covered by the Hall Valley Campground.

Disregarding 2 years of DNF's, we gave this one a shot. Beautiful area, but zero luck with the cache.

Found it 2 years ago but lost record of code # for the Geotour. Came back to get code #, but after an extensive search I was unable to find the cache. CO might want to check on it.

Out finding a few more CSP caches. Another cool historical spot. Didn't find any of the old building sites, but we'll have to come back next summer to go over Webster pass and find the Whale mine. TFTC
