Another in the series off the Silver Creek Trail in Georgetown, Colorado
This is one in a series of caches off the relatively unknown Silver Creek Trail in Georgetown Colorado This is a relatively flat trail that runs for approximately 5 miles from Georgetown to Lawson. The only detraction is the noise from I-70 below. It traverses wooded and open terrain and has some colorful aspen glades in the fall. It is an easy trail but if you bring small children exercise extreme caution since there are precipitous drop-offs in places. The trail follows an old mining shelf road that is now a single track. There are some mine ruins along the way. I have placed the caches very close to the trail since there are a lot of old unknown shafts that can be hazards. It is also a challenging mountain bike trail so watch out for bikers. I have given coordinates for the trailhead. There is limited parking just uphill of the trailhead that is accessible by two wheel drive cars up to this point. The trailhead is located just past a house at the end of what looks like a driveway but is actually a public right of way. You can also access the trail from the trailhead near GC1T5QF (Clear Creek Volvo). The trail from GC1T5QF is steep and somewhat rocky. Note that these caches are not accessible from the other Saxon Mountain Road caches.

This is a nice place to relax and have a drink or something to eat. The cache is a large camo'd pill bottle.

Easy find after a walk in the afternoon thundershowers. Dippin tb's TFTC Cache is doing great.

Hanging out in the Georgetown area this morning grabbing a few caches. I parked at the cemetery and bushwacked up to the cache. There is supposed to be a trail near the cemetery, but I couldn't find it! I hiked to all three caches, then walked out to the little trailhead with the two car parking lot, then walked the road back to the cemetery. I ended up with 4.4 miles, and really love this Silver Creek Trail!

Surprised this one hasn't been logged for such a long time compared to the other caches to the west. This section of trail is just as nice.
