The Ben Tyler Trail is named for local rancher Benjamin Tyler, who came to Colorado from California with his brothers in 1876. The Tylers ran a freight line from the end of the railroad to Leadville in addition to ranching and timber businesses. Ben Tyler constructed his ranch just east of the trail and was reportedly running 300 head of cattle on its 640 acres when he was killed in a lumbering accident in 1907. The family sold the ranch in 1959, but the property returned to family ownership when one of Tyler’s descendants purchased the ranch headquarters in 1988. In 1996, the ranch was nominated to the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties and today is operated as a bed and breakfast and fishing resort.

Not so quick find, took 30-40 mins to hike the trail and then a storm blew in so I was running down that trail!

Okay, we earned this cache on this beautiful day. Thought it would be an easier half mile hike (as the crow flys lol). With all the switchbacks, it was more like 1.5. Now we are a little behind schedule but worth the hike and our dogs, especially the Labrador, love it. TFTH

Tftc. Quite a hike. I think it took us about 30 minutes. Cache looks good. I'm surprised that the log is in such good condition. I can easily read the names all the way from 2013!

Really good hike to this one. Starting to wonder if we will make our goal on this trip. First of many finds (hopefully) as @intrepiidexplorer and I begin outer quest for this geotour. Our first. This cache was in great shape. Traded swag. Tftc!
