Cache Spot
View

It's < 1 mile up a 4x4 trail from the main dirt road. If you have an SUV, you only have to walk up a very steep grade for 100 yards. If you don't have an SUV, you'll have to walk in from the main road. In this case, "SUV" <> Subaru - you need a truck. Cache altitude is 10,800 feet !!
The cache is nicely tucked in under a pair of crossed logs and a wind-swept evergreen. It should stay pretty dry...in the summer months that is! Who knows what will happen to the poor, disposable Glad container during a high elevation winter with dozens of feet of snow! Due to a 2001 Ford Explorer with running boards not being able to climb up the steep grade over a HUGE rock (boulder actually!) on the way to the lake near Alice, Colorado, the cache was hidden near the failed point. Original stash includes log book, herkimer diamond, toy car, doggie treat, keychain bottle opener, guitar pick, and other goodies.

We found it using our phone app by bush-whacking up from the road- much harder than we needed it to be! Used the trail back to the road. Cache needs a new container. It's only in a trash bag right now. Thanks for a fun adventure!

10,000 feet - no wonder I was huffing and puffing on the way up. Sadly, the container is destroyed. Someone wrapped it in plastic and the log is in a baggy, so that helped. But it really needs a new container. I re-wrapped it, but wish I had been able to bring in a new container. Thanks for keeping this one going.

It was a stairway, all right! We, too, parked the car, but even before we got to this place. It just felt better to leave the car in a nice wide spot and travel by foot. We walked up to Loch Lomond and really enjoyed the day. Thanks for placing this cache :)

My main route today was to hike up to Loch Lomand but a little side hike up to this cache was great. One of the oldest caches I have found - I have only found 4 older ones. Cache is in fine shape. 9:31 am at 10,776 feet.
