A 4x4 can get you within 100 feet of the cache. Start up Guanella Pass Road from Georgetown and go for 2.5 miles to a right turn off. There is a side area for parking at this turn off. From here you can hike the 4.5 miles to the cache or better yet you can 4 wheel.
We think this is a fun trail to go up. From the parking area you want to take Forest Route #248.1. Go approximately 3.8 miles and you will see a road that goes off to the left. No road #. You will want to take this road. If you pass it you can still take the next left which is a hairpin turn to the left but you would go down a extremely rocky road. That road is Forest Route #248.1A. Final elevation is 10,922 feet so drink a lots of water.
Have fun!

 Hints

The cache is located 15 feet from a tall place that could use a good sweep. If you are facing the two holes it would be to the right.

I drove around and came at this one from the north.

Spent the night nearby and did alittle catch and release this evening, the area has had a hard frost already, so not many bugs left to deal with.

This hide had me baffled for a while and I had to laugh at myself when I spotted it.

Thanks for the hide!

We headed out of town on my Friday day off to do a little 4x4 exploring up towards Argentine pass, and then see Il Travatore at Central City Opera.

That first pitch up from Guanella Pass road is pretty rough. The rest of the trail had its spots, but was usually easier. We turned around a the crossing for https://coord.info/GC2CG4K (Miranda’s Jeep Adventure #1), a T5 I wanted for my Fizzy.

We dropped down from 248.1 at the second opportunity, avoiding the stream crossings. This is where we had a picnic and turned around.

Signed the log KAJW. Took nothing. Left nothing. Thanks for the cache!

Won’t say it’s the Waldorf or ever was. Nice structure though! Accurate description though the cache is soaked. Was able to write in it but honestly could use maintenance. Appreciate the hide!
Not the Waldorf

While my huggle bounced the car up the hill I was able to hike to this one much faster. It would be great to ride a horse up here but there just isn't anywhere to park a trailer on the paved road & the 4WD road gets far too rough & steep right away to get a trailer up. This was as far as we could take the car. He had to turn around and return to that center access road while I hiked on up to the next cache.

Found this one on a great day in the mountains with Team Red Rubicon and we were headed back out toward the "dreaded pavement".
Thanks for the ammo can in the mountains!

After spending the day on the trails with Team Red Rubicon, we were out of daylight but still working our way down. Too many caches to pass up, so we stopped for some of them and had to leave others for the next trip. After stumbling through the tall grass we were able to make the find on this one.
