All week long Nocogirl and I talked about hiking, but we didn't want to go too high because neither one of us is overly fond of the snow. So it comes down to decision time and what do we do? Hey, let's go to Emerald Lake! She did warn me we'd likely hit snow, so luckily I was prepared with some layers. It didn't take long to hit snow, and not long after that the whole trail was snow. The air temps have warmed up, so we were slipping and sliding along, but having fun. The snow melt is in full swing, too. But we loved the hike, loved the company, and had the chance to grab a few caches along the way. Stopped here to snap a quick selfie. We were a little turned around (and directionally challenged) but eventually I think we were pointing the right way. Thanks for the virtual!

We have set our sights on Emerald Lake with 4 junior cachers in tow and the muggle. When we took off it was about 11 in the afternoon or so and just past Dream Lake it starts snowing. Not too hard, so just enough to get excited since we don’t see snow like this. We break out our rain coats and trudge on deeper on the snowy, icy trail. Of course had to stray from the trail briefly to see this virtual. Thanks for the virtual!

TFTVC in Rocky Mountain NP. We were on a road trip from NC of the 4 corner states.
We hiked the lakes loop from Bear to Nymph to Dream to Emerald in lots of snow.
Luckily we had brought winter coats and crampons. Who knew the weather for the end of May? It was 94 degrees in NC.

Because of conditions we didn't risk getting too far off the trail. These are beautiful photo of the amazing trail. Favorite given!!

Wow. The views in this park are absolutely insane. I found this virtual with my dear sister @beluga_squad while hiking to Emerald Lake. It's been a long cold winter in my neck of the woods so I'm so happy to be soaking up sunshine and sister time, while also finding some caches! Thanks for placing a virtual in this beautiful place.

Got up early this morning on my last day in Colorado and headed to the Bear lake trailheads for a sunrise/early morning hike. I'm not sure what I was anticipating but this hike far surpassed my expectations! Thank you for maintaining this VC! Will send pictures!

Took the not well used low trail, found nice water falls just west of here, then backtracked on the very well used upper trail to the sweet spot. TFTC

11:44 AM. # 9216.

We completely missed this one on the way up even though we were looking. On the way down, we had a better perspective on the path. While there, others on their way up didn’t look our way. But, those on the way down did.

Favorite Point for the time to take in an amazing view from a terrific vantage point!!

Our pics are attached.

We are two Texans from Dallas on a Vacation with our son and 2 grandkids from San Antonio. We are enjoying beautiful Colorado!

Thank you to monstermike for a fun Cache!!

Our second 22-days-trip through the USA Approve

Sunday - and our first full day with the camper. Yesterday we had arrived at Glacier Basin Campground, at 2628 metres above sealevel.
Today we started with two hikes at Bear Lake. Our first hike started at 9:55 from Bear Lake Trailhead to Emerald Lake (via Nymph and Dram Lake), at 12:20 we were back at Bear Lake. So wonderful scenery here! I enjoyed the walk very much BigSmile

TFTC # 4.498 @ 10:25 1/12 today (2/143 caches found altogether with lemonCurd during this second trip through the USA BigSmile )

Found during our second trip to the USA. We visited quite a number of National Parks and Monuments, including Rocky Mountains, Badlands, the Devil's Tower, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone, Arches and Canyonland. To do so, we drove 4058 miles in three weeks and managed to find 145 caches on the way, including the Wah Wah Stash, which has completed our "placed in month" grid. And we pushed the highest elevation for a cache find from 9960 feet (3036 m) to over 14100 feet.

Sounds straining, wearisome, stressful? It wasn't, it was great fun. Due to the extraordinary good planning by Miss-Moneypenny, we found our ways easily, always had a nice place to park our R.V. for the night and were never overstrained (but also never bored). The USA were once again a wonderful and easy place to travel to, the nature completely overwhelming and the people very nice, helpful and fun to chat with.

Found on a little hike around the lakes. We thought we let one of the Bierstadt Lake caches be our #4500 (because of the funny name), but we missed it by two.

Thanks for the cache!
